I disagree. I used to go there and found my experience to be very different. I very rarely see take downs of popular tumblr posts, usually it's just random niche stuff from obscure blogs. And the comments are an absolute cesspool, especially in recent years as more and more alt-right users show up. It's became less about absurdities and more about mocking a strawman version of leftist ideology - many of the posts there aren't even from tumblr, instead they're stuff from college campuses, or random content about feminism in general.
I get that it's absurd, and frustrating, but it's cherrypicking the worst examples. It's clearly not just catharsis, because so few people there are actually leftist or feminist. The people who use those subreddits are more versed in the ridiculous tumblr vocabulary then the vast majority of leftists.
I think there come a point in people's lives where they need to just grow up and stop caring about shit like this. Yeah, these people are out there, but they're usually naive young people with very small followings. Deliberately exposing yourself to that for entertainment is kind of cruel and ultimately pointless. It ends up warping your view of the world. I just stopped going there and never looked back.
