Steps to take to acquire an abandoned motorcycle? U.S. Oklahoma.

I am not trying to steal someone's bike. Relax for a second and listen to what I'm saying. I understand that if it is considered abandoned that the police will probably try to get a hold of the owner by searching for them via the VIN number on the bike. I do not intend to take a bike that belongs to someone else. I only ask because the bike is very heavily damaged and has not moved in some time, and it appears to not have been tagged since it was bought.

These things lead me to believe it has been abandoned, which is why I asked /r/legaladvice if it would be considered abandoned, and if it is, how would I go about to get a salvage title for the bike once it is officially considered abandoned and taken to auction.

I am not attempting to steal someone's bike through some sort of legal witchcraft, I am only trying to figure out if it is abandoned because then it will probably be sold at auction at a later date or, given its current state, be sold for a salvage title.

If it turns out to not be abandoned then great, as the bike only needs a few repairs to be usable again and the owner should be back to riding it very shortly.

I still don't see how I would be stealing the bike if it is legally considered abandoned by the city and then sold at auction. I really doubt I can just point at a bike and yell "abandoned!" and then take it with me.

If I were to end up with the bike then it would be after the owner is contacted, the city waits for a response and if it does not get one then they declare it abandoned, and then put it to auction.

Really really don't see how me looking into how to legally get a bike that would have to first be declared abandoned by the city (which requires them posting a notice on the bike and then attempting to contact the owner of the bike to find out if it is), and then buying it at auction makes me an asshole who is trying to steal someone's bike.

If I planned to steal the bike, do you really think I would post about it on social media?

Then again, its obvious you want to see me as an "asshole who steals bikes" as you have responded to both my first comment as well as my post itself with basically the same message. So I don't see why I actually bothered to write this response :/
