Steve with a little movement

From the other thread for context

After the pitch, catcher says “you threw a cutter!“ I said “I didn’t mean to.“ Then, while walking away from me, he told the marketing woman, “that was kind of fast“ and then I went to my seat and ate nachos and I was the happiest boy.

EDIT: Well this got way more response than I thought.

Here's the story. My name is Steve Hofstetter, I'm a stand-up comedian (you might know me from this video), and I also am a regular on MLB Network. Years ago when I was promoting a TV show, I threw out first pitches in some markets where it aired. Once I realized that teams will just let you do that if you are mildly well-known, it became a thing for me. As my YouTube grew (its at just under half a million subscribers now), more teams said yes. They usually want me to do a video about the experience, and I'm happy to.

This was my 27th first pitch (12 MLB, 14 MILB, and 1 ABL), and one of my top three FOR SURE. The other two were for the White Sox and my other one for the Rays I threw in 2015. The one I threw for the Padres was definitely my worst.

Also, someone said it was sped up, and I asked my editor and he said he did! Booooo. He sped it by 8%. So instead of being about 47 miles an hour, it looks like it's almost 51. Dammit, now I'll never actually make the majors. The movement on the pitch is just how I throw. I can't control it very well, so I try to grip it for the least movement. Two separate Major League pitchers have described my delivery as "violent".

Anyway, thanks for all the interest and kind words. If anyone wants to see a show, my calendar is here, and I tour all over the world. And if any teams are reading this, minor, major, or foreign, I will happily throw one for you, too.
