Stifled ambitions: a review of Google robotics - The Robot Report

Thats basically people's plan. They're basically banking on that fact that if somthing is flashy and can solve a low hanging fruit problem they'll be billionares in 5 years. Its this same short sightedness that puts people off the whole startup game and even bother innovating.

I once went to a conference on Big Data to learn more and get an idea of what tools and such are out thete. I attended a session where a lead "Data Engineer" even joked and said "We just change out title on linked in from programmer to Big Data Expert and we've quadrupled our salary" meanwhile he explained why "APIs ake money and sell so just make APIs and invest in those who make them" without going jnto any standard criterion of technical depth.

This is the fundamental problem when fields get hot and others dont understand/ can do anything to crrage movement. Its no different than the mechanic who leaves your oil filter loose after a cheal change so he can charge you x50 for "discovery" fees. Many people take advantage rather than share and equally push forward the envelope as a whole

It also shows a flaw in the way our socioeconmic system vs avademia and learning is structured. Its why big players warn of us advancing general ai and robotics without any safegaurds and fully thinking about the problem

A really big issue that can arise is factiom X creates an AI + capable droid for war only to wipe its creators out. The same can be true for manufactring jobs and its why its important that everyone tune in and learn. If we let one person fall behind we all fall as the stakes gdt higher the more advanced we become.

Tldr. Be smart. Share knowledge. Dont be greedy. Lifes to short. Think
