It still sucks to be in the “majority”

Once we understand them we are better equipped to help our brothers and sisters that really need the help.

This is the only thing I take issue with. I agree that privilege is a thing but what makes racism or sexism something something that makes a person REALLY need our help opposed to child abuse? I was abused. I was never helped despite the writing being on the wall. I was thrown into plenty of situations that continue to haunt me as an adult and I strongly believe the depression I deal with to this day and my suicide attempt were spawned there in my childhood. Theres mountains upon mountains of research showing just how horribly abuse can mess a person up. But that will never be a trending hashtag. In the mainstream consciousness it will never qualify someone as a person who "REALLY needs our help". People regardless of political affiliation will still tell you other peoples kids are none of your business or try and defend the abuse. It just feels like I am forever expected to bring awareness and support to others causes while never expecting any support for my own and when someone gets passionate or angry or completely off the walls mean about something like blm its justified in eyes of people. "Of course they're angry" but I get that same way over the fact my entire community and extended family knew and overlooked the issue of abuse, alcoholism, neglect. And I am the problem. It's like my attention and care is free but I'm a greedy asshole for feeling as though not enough people take child abuse seriously as I am a victim of it.
