if they get hair, it will absolutely be because of fans.

They may have an in universe explanation for the change but that doesn't mean it's not a reaction to fan criticism. Do you think that it is a coincidence the trailer for season 2 highlighted its lighthearted aspects? Or that they're bringing in The Enterprise, Pike and Spock to DSC? Or that a post-nemesis show involving Patrick Stewart has just been announced? People were complaining it wasn't "star trek enough" so now they are making it more "star trek". They found a cool/clever way to introduce the change, obviously, because they can't just slap hair on them, not address it and call it a day.

I'm just saying. A lot of what's coming out of the Trek camp seems to be an attempt to appeal to that portion of the 90's fandom who weren't quite convinced by DSC season 1. And if they can't get 'em there, they will with Picard.

Makes me wonder if Fuller walked because the Studio wanted to retread old (safe?) ground but Fuller was fully committed to his own vision.
