The difference being that Germany did not have the entirety of Europe hating Germans with a religious fervor and openly declaring proudly their intention to genocide every single ethnic German in mainland Germany, and mustering their entire armed forces for the singular purpose of wiping Germans from the earth with a vengeance.

If they did, then Hitler and his actions (barring the Holocaust) would be a lot, a LOT more justified. Hitler declares war and invades others for ideological and expansionist purposes, to garner more power. Not for the literal survival of his entire country. If Germany was like it’s fanatasy counterpart Eldia, and stopping not-Hitler would be a guaranteed death sentence for Germany, then yes they would be traitors to the German people.
