It's actually greedy politicians who have developed a facade of "caring for the people." Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. "Free tuition" won't be free. Right now, most families that cannot afford to send their kid to college receive pell and state grants. So college for them is already extremely affordable at state colleges (which is the only colleges that will be giving "free colleges") So with "free college", most of the families that CAN afford to send their kid to college, will also get free tuition. But not really, because all families property taxes are going to go up. Including the low income families who pretty much already free college. So while the child in the house of a poor family gets to go to college for free (which they already pretty much do) their families will be paying much more in taxes. Get what I'm saying? The government will fuck us over. Everything costs something. If state college costs zero, to supplement the cost of paying professors and admin at the schools, education is going to cheapen. The government is again trying to hold its citizens back from getting ahead. Everyone will be part of the same level of education that won't be of any real quality. Don't be fooled and think the government cares about you. The small group of government that is trying to implement free college is doing so to appeal to voters and get more money. They want to be back in power for more money. Money money. And they have tricked young, colleges aged students into believing that is this a great deal. While you think your going to college for free, the govt is laughing because the quality of education will cheapen, and ALL the families will pay much higher taxes so that the families still lose but the government still wins.
