Because they don't have the life skills to be on their own. Men live longer if they get married and they report higher levels of happiness.

Women on the other hand are happier once they leave their marriage. Obviously, exceptions both ways, but, that's what the surveys say.

Unfortunately, a lot of people are really lazy when raising boys because the bar is just set so very low. Meanwhile, the bar for women keeps rising. When my mom grew up, she was never expected to know how to mow a lawn and change a flat. Now, a lot of women grow up knowing cooking, cleaning, car maintenance, lawn maintenance, child care and so on. Basically, people raise their daughters to know female tasks and male tasks meanwhile parents of boys have predominately raised sons who can barely do traditionally male tasks.

I have a husband who can barely do what's expected of men and that's only after I taught him things like how to mow, how to edge a lawn and so on. Meanwhile, I was raised with all the female duties and all the male duties.

He hates me, but, also won't leave me because he relies on me for everything. It's so annoying to be hated and needed.
