I volunteered a couple of years at a community garden that grew fresh vegetables for the homeless shelters. The people who volunteer, don’t work for a nonprofit, don’t just pretend at the charity galas, they/we see that things don’t add up! I volunteered, because I was so pissed at what has been going on, I figured I should get my hands dirty! ( I also figured I can do this)! But, we really didn’t grow that much food. ( real farmers know what their doing) The city that let the non-profit use their land, got good press. The non-profit used volunteers like me for labor ( I didn’t mind) and the non-profit got grant money, and the non-profit paid the salaries to the people in charge. Oh, and the non- profit used the garden on weekends for weddings and private events, to make money on the side. Anyways, non-profits are just like any business, except their business is the Homeless Industrial Complex!
