I don't recall the dodu explicitly being said to wield a club, but it does allegedly build piles of sticks on the forest floor, and a similar Cameroon cryptohominid, the "giant chimpanzee" sapara, does wield a club according to Michel Ballot. Some of the other African cryptohominids, like the kikomba and Stanley's missing links, are also said to wield sticks or clubs as weapons, and the kakundakari "piles up wood as if it wanted to make a fire, but it doesn't know how." The j'ba fofi is also said to build huts out of leaves, if that counts. There is also an alleged, odd Shawnee legend concerning a mastodon which wandered down the Ohio Valley and was trained by the chief to do various things, including carry objects.
