Straight Outta Compton left out Dr. Dre’s history of abuse against women because it didn’t ‘serve the narrative’

I meant I was following it very closely. Thanks pedant.

I was also following it very closely, which is why I had those news articles bookmarked in a folder with about a hundred more links following what happened.

I have no idea what you are comparing me to or generalizing this incident to.

I'm not in the mood to do a search of your posting history, but if you're being honest you're probably the only person who's ever posted to /r/mensrights who's never heard of Anita Sarkeesian.

The fact of the matter is that Ellen Pao was NOT without fault, and has a history of playing the victim- as in the highly publicized lawsuit where much of the media (looking at you Recode.net) acted as if she was just in her allegations of sexism, which were very damaging. She became famous off of it- and she lost miserably. Her husband also ran a ponzi scheme where they would steal money from brave people such as firefighters.

I don't really care to debate this because I don't like going in circles and I don't feel this is pertinent unless you're saying that this either proves she was lying—which it obviously doesn't—or that she deserved it—which obviously no one does.

The fact is that you do not have your facts straight and that you are siding with the wrong person here.

You're welcome to show me where I discussed any of that.

Furthermore, I am not denying that, considering the sheer size of Reddit, that there might have been a few comments saying that she should die or something of the ilk. However, I would expect that someone with a site that large would expect such commentary- I run a massive forum website with nearly have a million users, and trust me I received a lot of stuff like that.

How about you don't deny that, considering both the size of Reddit and the bizarre fervor of the anti-pal crowd, it's entirely possible that she did receive specific death threats? Does that really seem so unreasonable?

The most ridiculous part was when the media (looking at BBC here) stated that she was compared with nazi symbols. I know what posts they were referring to- and it's an entirely absurd remark. Everyone gets edited into a swatizka at some point of their internet experience. Is that a good thing? Absolutely not. Is it emblematic of the world's problem against website? Absolutely not.

That's not actually the most ridiculous part, believe it or not. The most ridiculous part is that people spent months comparing Ellen Pao, temporary CEO of Reddit with Chairman Mao. Why? Because the way they thought she was running the website (which turned out to be a false assumption) didn't meet with their approval. Actual human beings did that. And when that no longer tickled them, they started putting up pictures of Ellen Pao in Nazi propaganda posters, next to swastikas, comparing her to someone who killed 6 million Jews.

And you think that news outlets reporting on this is ridiculous? You've lost all perspective.
