Strange Purple Skies Seen at Swedish Town after Local Tomato Farm Installs New Lights

Hi - I do a lot of work in the greenhouse industry.

The good news is:

  • Greenhouses like this are amazingly productive and conserve many resources - especially power. These LEDs are extremely energy efficient with the armature and components lasting around 8 to 10 years

  • The light pollution does suck but, there is a way to prevent it. So-called light screens or energy screens can be installed to eliminate light leakage at night. The downside is that often times greenhouses operate on thin margins and will say they can't afford to install the screens. Personally, I believe they should if the city/town/area they build in decides to require it.
