A few years ago I was doing work as a military contractor and got to visit Turkey. I was staying in Adana. I had just flew in from Izmir and I was having a good time with the entourage I was traveling with. The top guy said he knew the area pretty well, but said that we shouldn't travel at night because it was dangerous. After a few drinks we all hopped in the car anyway, picked up more beers and asked the locals where could we go for a fun time. I don't speak the language, so I just chilled out in the backseat drinking my turkish beer.

After about 30+ minutes of driving East we eventually pulled into this large sketchy parking lot. I told the driver that I changed my mind and wanted to go back to base, but he said "too late. The man with the AK47 is pointing at us and telling us to park". He tapped his gun on my window and was telling me to get out. Words were said with the driver, and then we started walking down this dark alley. People were rushing by very quickly. I was a little drunk, but alert. Then I started noticing the dead animals. There were dead cats laying in the shadows, and blood on the sidewalk. The whole time I am thinking to myself "Where am I, and what the fuck am I doing here?". I could hear random gun shots, but kept telling myself they were fireworks.

Then this very obese lady in granny panties and bra opened a door and started waiving to me. Oh. I am at a Turkish brothel. We walked down the alley and I was trying to be very careful on where I kept my eyes pointed. Very large women were pointing at me, but they all were wearing the most unflattering underwear. The only attractive lady was sitting on a bed counting her money with a smile on her face. Kids were also running up and down the stairs. At the end of the tour there were more ladies lined up and more guards with AK47s. I was as polite as I could be, and said no thank you. We all knew that we needed to get the fuck out of dodge immediately. We casually walked to our car and there were people hovering around our car that walked slowly away when we approached.

I have been to other brothels, but this was probably the strangest place I had ever seen in my life. It felt like a military operated whore house. We didn't talk the entire car ride back to base.
