Streamer Saturday Weekly Discussion

I attempted to subscribe to Trump recently and had a very negative experience. It is reproduced below in an attempt to provide constructive feedback.

Trump, if you are reading this:

  • I totally understand you don't like answering the same questions repeatedly and it is not that informative to your viewers.
  • I massively respect you as a player.
  • I believe you didn't mean to be condescending when you made your remarks. Playing and talking at the same time is hard.
  • However, it is massively disrespectful to your viewers to imply - intentionally or not - that someone asking you a question does not "actually want to learn." This is the real problem I have with your response.
  • Making an example of a new subscriber who asked a silly question, however inadvertently, and then trying to spin it as constructive feedback, is, well... it was very very hard to be on the receiving end of that.

I'm probably way too sensitive about this sort of thing, but I had a boss who made an example of me in front of my team when I asked him questions years ago. I almost dropped out of software development altogether as a result. The concepts you are trying to express are fine, but the way you express yourself matters just as much as what you're expressing.

conversation is reproduced/linked below:

Q: Subscribed to ask this - what's your opinion on dragon egg and grim patron in arena?

A: I recommend looking up the value on arena-value-type sites. That's my "if you actually want to get better and not just ask me questions answer, but if... you just want an answer, they're bad." link.

Q: What about in mage?

"As it turns out, if you look at the resources provided in the F.A.Q., there are values specifically for the mage class. They go up but they're still poor." 04:17:09

Subscriber notifications: Q: "Don't take my rather dismissive answer as an insult, but rather my desire to help you become a better player by having access to the resources you need to improve. 04:32:21"
