Strong Upper Back Pain in the Morning Only

Cancer isn't a single disease with a single type of pain. It progresses at different speeds in different people. Again however, I am NOT saying you have cancer. Just suggesting you get it checked out due to the location and type of pain.

The thoracic pain that is a hallmark of secondary cancer would not prevent someone from going back to sleep because once you wake up your cortisol levels start amping up again which deal with the inflammation. That's why the pain from this kind of cancer in the first few weeks or months is mainly evident for a short period during the night.

I typed my message out of a sense of goodwill and I'd just like to add that it was informed by personal experience, not Google. I'm an active (daily) swimmer and cyclist so I know what the difference is between muscular pain and pain from tumours. Surprisingly, there isn't much difference when a tumour is inherently painless, slow growing and only causing inflammation.

Best wishes anyway. I hope you're able to find resolution to your pain soon.
