Stuck in one distro

Welcome to the party

So I opened up my laptop and disconnected the HDD and it launched into the bios. It seems that it's on UEFI mode and secure boot is on. No matter how many times I set it to legacy mode and secure boot off after every restart I'm stuck with the bios resetting back to its defaults.

If this happens even with your HDD disconnected and no operating systems available to the computer, then the problem has nothing to do with any operating system. The problem was pre-existing, and installing Linux merely exposed the problem.

I can only think of two possibilities:

1) Your BIOS is saving and then losing the changes. 2) Your BIOS isn't saving the changes at all.

Try this:

Change some other harmless setting in your BIOS, make sure to "save and exit", and then reboot and see if that change is still intact.
