Student sues Australian Government in 'world first' case over financial risks of climate change

I find the federal position on climate change mainly boils down to the separation of powers under the constitution (stick with me). The federal government has powers to legislate over mining and minerals, but no power to legislate over environment. With that being the case, they favour the economy and push climate change to the side. Contrast that to the South Australian Liberal government, who put climate change front and centre as the biggest risks to “lives and livelihoods” (to quote ScoMo) that the stage faces, and is taking pretty drastic steps to diversify the state economy to that end. Definitely a hairbrain theory of mine, and I can’t speak for other states- but I think it holds some weight.
