Studies from US collegiate sports have shown that female athletes are 1.9 times more likely to develop a sports-related concussion than are their male contemporaries in comparable sports

I hope there is more funding in the future to prevent the repercussions of concussions in female athletes. I was aware of the safety reasons behind the new World Rugby guidelines however I hoped that a workaround or new rules could be implemented; with this new information that’s going to be difficult. Female contact sports probably need to be reviewed and if necessary rule changes will need to be presented to governing bodies. Safety is paramount. Perhaps specialized helmets?

I wonder if between the differences in female axon fibres, impact of menstrual cycles, and neck strength is there an effect on the sex ratio of dementia. Minor head injuries adding up over a lifetime.
