Study: People with less political knowledge think they know a lot about politics

That sounds about right. People I know tell me I know a lot about politics, but honestly I don't feel that way. I read the news and fuck around on Reddit and maybe a book or two here and there but I'm really no expert. From where I'm sitting, it's always seemed like people are observing their own vacuum of political knowledge rather than my abundance of it. The truth is that few people care about this stuff as much as they probably should, and there's enough depth and nuance to just about every single major issue in the world that the vast majority of people lack either the time or mental capacity to meaningfully process most political matters. Politics is just a fancy word for people talking out their differences on a large scale. But as time goes on, that scale only gets larger and larger and larger. And it gets harder and harder and harder for billions of people effectively communicate with one another.
