Why this sub can't stop being so... selfish?

Social Media is flies on shit. You can try to shoo them away, but they return for more at first opportunity. Let them have their shit and eat it too...or something like that. Seriously...this form of 'technology' is ripe for addiction and abuse: FB makes you a deal, 'Let us stalk you, and we'll let you stalk others in return, oh but it's called 'sharing', okay?' Google hooks you with admittedly quality services, then whittles away at your controls to maximize their access to you, 'the product'. Apple and AMZ sell you goods and 'a quality experience' that is unique, in exchange for a walled garden of technology that keeps you captured, unable to extricate yourself after falling in so deep. These are the big brands of today, and they make no bones about the bargain with the devil you make to do business with them. Trying to steer the unwitting, ignorant or naive public away from these exploitative brands is folly...I'm a whack job for even suggesting it, it's what they value, it's their faux religion. Waste of time. Another thing that bothers me about this sub is the 'there's an app/plugin/extension for that' mentality. This just results in the same shit/different day but it was good back when it worked, what's next? routine. Dogs chasing their tails.
