This may be oversimplified, but seems to me like this:

Between racial issues, covid, and the Trump administration, there has been a lot of heightened tension in the other sub over the last 5 years.

A lot of politically conservative people (type 1) got banned for saying racist things, spreading health misinformation, and failing to maintain the integrity of the gospel. A lot of people (type 2) also got banned for harping on type 1 people in "uncharitable" terms, ironically in an attempt to prevent a "woke" echo chamber

However, since politically liberal reformed people are in much shorter supply than politically conservative reformed people, the other sub has been backfilled with a higher percentage of political conservatives and most of the liberals now live here.

The other sub is not woke, and if you think it is then you're going to hate this one
