This Subs Favorite CEO(link in comments)

I never thought before about how Christianity obviously has a savior complex, and how capitalism has tried to install the CEO into that role. They are the sort of John Galt fire-bringers who can create order and pull us out of our misery. But then of course they wind up being only human (and often arrogant and flawed ones at that). And we all probably would have been better off collectively trying to solve our problems from the beginning, rather than hoping the next billionaire is the really good one who fixes us. Under that narrative we’re all just waiting, almost as powerless as the subjects of a 12th century kingdom where the big hope is that after this sickly, inadequate king dies maybe the next one will be wise and strong and make life fair and prosperous.
