Success of a 4 day week or other modified schedule?

I work at an alternative school where students only have class from Monday-Thursday, and Friday is an optional day to get tutoring/extra help for the week. The problem is that the district has to make up for the lost class time on Friday, so I teach from 8am to 4pm (with the exception of my planning period). Meanwhile other schools around us go from 8am to 2pm or 3pm. By the time I get to Friday, I'm so exhausted from the week that I'm not as productive as I wish I was.

It works well for the students though. I work in a low income area, so the Friday off gives students the chance to work that day. And they just like not having class on Fridays lol
