Was a successful re-tool with the Sedins possible?

A rebuild was inevitable. It can't be avoided when your team drafts horribly for a decade and you have 0 influx of quality youth and an old core all signed to full NTC's.

The sharks had Burns who decided to go beast mode at the age of 29 which is such an elite asset we never had and a huge reason for their success.

Hertl was drafted in 2012 and is just starting to peak.

Couture was drafted in 2009 and just turned 30 so has been in his prime over these last years.

Pavelski has been in their system forever and is still peaking... Tied a career high with 38 goals.

Our team was old, no prospects, bunch of full NTC's, no elite dman, no elite forwards, and we didn't even have a goalie at the beginning.

We are absolutely no where comparable to a team like SJ because we simply didnt have any players in our system like these guys.

Im sure the same can be said for those other teams you mentioned. When Benning took over they all had stars who are still performing like stars.
