One thing that I know is that when it comes to the subject of racism and colorism within desi communities we still have a long way to go. These topics usually result in massive down voting brigades on this subreddit or ppl basically saying its all exaggerating just shut up lol

Older ppl DO often act funky when it comes to other ppl of color like black, latinos etc but make exceptions for whites.

Indians ARE obsessed with fair skin and that Fair and Lovely nonsense is all in your face in India. For a country where most ppl are dark its just annoying and pathetic. We know Bollywood is full of shit but none of the other regional film lead characters look like their ppl either except Punjabi films and South Indian ones look nearly interracial with a bunch of North actresses. Look at any desi beauty/handsome shoutout page on Instagram and dark skin or even wheatish desis are non existent on those pages so even abcds consciously and subconsciously carry on with this. There is much more examples but its funny how many try to down play all this stuff even on this subreddit.
