Suffering in silence tips

Hey : )! So my depression began my first semester in college...it was a really overwhelming period for me. And, I too was raised by people who did not 'talk about feelings', or if i opened up, would most likely say something to make me feel worse, shame, me or tell me to 'get over it', etc.

It's normal not to want to open up if you feel like you will be judged, shamed, ridiculed, or misunderstood. And, it's good to find safe people to talk to, who will treat your emotions with compassion and respect.

So did something happen to cause you to feel this way recently? Is there something at school that is triggering anxiety in you?

There's nothing like finding a safe person to talk to, so if there is a counselor at school that seems like he, or she would be a source of comfort for you, I'd say go for it : ).
