Suggestion for hiragana handwriting learners: use 4 grid spaces instead of 1 per character

I've been doing this for a while, and as someone with awful handwriting in English and weak drawing skills this has been really helpful.

I find it hard to visualise as I'm drawing how the proportions should be, but jisho shows stroke order over a four square grid which makes it easier for me to get the proportions right when I draw it myself on a four square grid. I can see clearly if the proportion for something is wrong as it's in the wrong square, whereas as when it's all in one, it looks wrong but I find it hard to work out why just by looking at it.
