A Suggestion For Those With Large Backlogs

I don't understand what you wanted to say with the first part of the message. Mario came out in 1985, and?

If everyone is going to stop buying new games at launch (especially JRPG and Japanese games overall which always have lower sales compared to even a terrible Call of Duty game, let alone a well-made Call of Duty game), there won't be any new games to buy. So, I don't think that's a very good advice you're giving to people. If fans are going to start doing these things, waiting for sales and not paying, who will support these franchises? They will stop existing. Buying games on discounts is normal but if you love a franchise, it's not a very good move to go "I'll just wait until it's dirt cheap". You don't love it, then and you're using old games to "save money". I'm playing some old games because I want to, not to wait out until the games I actually feel excited about are going to be dirt cheap and not to burden myself with dead weight and rules when enjoying a hobby.

Buying games you care about if you have enough funds is something everyone should do. No need to feel guilty about discounts if you were playing something else or didn't have time, etc... but when you purposefully ignore something just to get it on discount - that's not good at all. Not as bad as pirating but not something to be proud of, for sure.
