To inflate your KD in a completely meaningless way if you're into stat whoring simply spam a playlist in which you have no games or very few games played, and stomp the mismatched opposition. Zone Control when it comes around, for example. Or inferno control. Something that you have no hidden matchmaking rating in. If you've already played a lot of everything or if you have a massive history of games played already then this won't work since once you reach a decent hidden MMR you will no longer pair with complete noobs the vast majority of the time.

Destiny's matchmaking seems like it used to be straight random. You'd get a normal distribution of players - mainly people around or slightly below 1.0 KD, perhaps a couple slightly above, and then one or two good players. Teams could screw with this, such as a full team of good players against a bunch of solo's. But generally you'd see this. Now it's pretty obvious there is heavy emphasis on matching similarly rated players, using whatever hidden matchmaking rating system they've come up with. If you're a 1.5-2.0+ KD player going in solo into a playlist you've already hit up a ton and have established reasonably high hidden MMR you're going to have a hard time finding a lobby you can steamroll with 40 kills and an 8.0 KD.

It's playlist based though. I noticed two weeks ago when Zone Control went active for only the second or third time ever that when I queued into it, it was like I was starting all over again on a fresh account. I posted several 35+ kills games and averaged a ~4.0 KD over about 50-100 games of Zone Control (losing many of them, not playing the objective at all, just farming kills). My average KD went up a decent bit.

But that's really cheesy and means nothing. So you decide if you want to farm KD or actually get better at the game. Two entirely different things. If you're just interested in the superficial look of your stats but not what they mean, maybe this isn't even the right game.
