suggestions on moving water propagated plants to soil?

I had a bit of trouble going straight from water roots to soil. What I do instead: once the roots reach half an inch to an inch, I start adding a little bit of damp indoor potting soil to the glass jar holding the cutting and pour out some of the water. (Use fresh soil. Dampening it first helps the soil sink to the bottom of the jar so I can see how much I'm adding. Dry soil will float.) I add a little more damp soil and replace a little more of the water daily until the water is completely gone and the roots are completely buried in soil. That's when I remove the cutting (with the soil) and repot. If your cuttings are currently water propogating in something large like a bottle, I'd recommend moving them to smaller glass jars first so the process of replacing the water doesn't take forever.

This has worked like a charm for my marble queen pothos, neon philodendron, spider plant, and basil plant. It's quite cool because you can sometimes see a second type of root starting to grow. With my philodendron, the water roots were brown but when I started adding soil, additional white roots shot out.

Good luck with whichever method you choose!
