Suicide more prevalent than homicide in US, but most Americans don't know it. News reports, movies and TV shows may contribute to the perception of a high risk of firearm homicide, leaving a substantial gap between ideas and reality and potentially leading to further danger.

To the guy whose comment was removed:

When you frame male suicide and mental health in this context, right off the bat, you've alienated half the population by putting them on the defensive. You want to talk about male suicide and mental health? Then try actually talking about male suicide. Complaining about women in this context doesn't help anything. All it does is perpetuate the pointless gendered bickering that seems to have subsumed much of the dialog.

Any time the topic of suicide comes up on almost any social media platform, the discrepancy between male and female suicide rates comes up. Sometimes, there will even be men straight up accusing women of attempting suicide because they're "attentionwh0res." I remember seeing a documentary about homeless women where suicide was touched on and the comments were on fire with dudes complaining about it.

If guys spent half as much time raising awareness as they did bitching about women, y'all might actually get some shit done.
