Summer changes?

I say we give Petke one more year to finish what he started. This year he single-handedly destroyed the developmental progression of quite possibly the best young left back in the US pool and stalled the development of one of the US's exciting young attacking players by pushing him into a role he's never played; just imagine the young players career's he could cripple with the whole season next year! Maybe Glad plays three games next year because of a disagreement with Petke about the best ice cream flavor! Or Baird, who has a reputation of not caring enough about his haircut; better bench him! Actually, Herrera has been getting some confidence after so many starts, and we can't have that here, so let's only play him at CB, and only 7 time. These are just wistful examples of the great work Petke can get at, if only given a chance!

Frustration and (bitter) jokes aside, maybe Brooks and Acosta both benefit down the road from this season, I'm not claiming to know the future. Maybe Acosta really was a little shit, and any coach would have done the same. Maybe causing another player to go out like Salcedo was totally worth it! Not financially, for the club, of course, but in Big Boss points. But maybe we factor into the discussion about Petke what we, as RSL fans, and/or US fans, and MLS in general were all saying about Acosta one year ago, and question if our coach's pride is more important than developing our young players. And our goals against stat. Maybe we wonder if a coach that considered it part of his job to work to integrate new guys, instead of some bullshit moving bar they must clear to get on the field, just how many more points we might have gotten with our fancy Spanish signing playing in his intended role. It would not have taken many to make the difference, as it turns out!

Alright, that's enough maudlin bullshit from me. Carry on.
