The Summit of Valyria

The Triarch was patient as the two ambassadors spoke, observing and listening to their words carefully as they went on.

His silence would soon be broken.

"Warfare is a subject with which I have more than enough experience, ambassador Ozzak mo Kandaq.", the Triarch Viseron Naegaris stated, his dark violet eyes gazing as if they were cold amethysts at the ambassador of Meereen.

His words could not be denied: It was well known the Triarch Naegaris had served as an officer in the Volantene Army for many years before being elected to the Triarchy and attaining the rank of general, serving for as long and as far back as the War of the Exile as a young lieutenant, where Viseron was responsible for some of the few victories Volantis could claim in the war.

"It was I who gave the order for the destruction of the city, and it is an order I would give again." the Triarch said, clearly and plainly. "This was not an action against the Ghiscari people or those of Ghiscari blood, but an action against the nation of New Ghis itself."

The Triarch continued on. "Six times Ghis had risen against the Valyrian people, leaving blood and slaughter in their wake. I have ensured that there shall never be a seventh uprising of Ghis, neither a New Ghis or an Old - And I have done so for the safety of my people and yours."

"If His Grace, King Rhaegar would like to come to Volantis to discuss his grievances, he is free to do so: I shall grant him an audience." the Triarch would say, touching on Ambassador Kandaq's request that those who had fought valiantly in the war be put to trial, as if the very idea of it was dismissed and not worth speaking of. For whatever Meereen had thought of her own war veterans, Volantis had always embraced her soldiers, and viewed those who came back from the war as heroes - not criminals to be put on trial.

"As for what you say, that the Meereenese people will remember these actions? Good. Let them and all others remember well what happens when any should choose to march on Valyria.", the Triarch stated, as if there were nothing more to speak of on the matter of how the Ghiscari Empire were dealt with.

"Meereen stands only to gain from acceptance in to the Republic, and as evidence of this I suggest the Meereenese Throne look past a war which is done with. Through our previous treatises, the ancient Valyrian roads once known as the 'Demon Road' for it's dangers are now once again called the Dragonroads, flowing with commerce. The City of Bhorash, once a ruin and den of piratery, stands to be rebuilt in to a strong and thriving port city with the full assistance of the Volantene Merchant Fleet."

The Mantaryne ambassador would smile greatly at the Triarch's words, as Mantarys more than any other city knew well the profits of the massive amounts of trade which flowed through the Dragonroads, especially given the war and the trade that ensued had bolstered the Mantaryne people from a people once seen by some as savages in to very wealthy merchants.

"This, which we have started, is only a beginning." the Triarch continued on. "Should Meereen decline entry in to the Republic, her wishes shall be respected. I would ask His Grace to consider, however - How much more can be done for the betterment of all of our peoples if we stand united, rather than divided?"
