This is Sunday: What were your running achievements this week?

This is my first time posting here on this subreddit. I tried c25k over the summer, the most I ran/walked was a little over a mile total, it was cool going out in the morning but after a couple weeks my shins hurt so badly I stopped going. Asthma doesn't help either.

Now I'm starting up again. I did 1 mile a week on Saturdays for the last 2 weeks. And then I just felt like going out again last Wednesday and ran/walked/paused for 5.2miles and it took 54 minutes (strata said average pace was 10:11). That's the longest I've ever done. Never thought I could do that much at once. And at certain points I would feel so good running like I was just coasting through the air. Even after I was exhausted suddenly it would kick back in and I could run another half lap (one lap is 1/6th of a mile so I ended up running around the small track over 30 times but I don't mind that).

I think I need new shoes probably. My feet and ankles always end up hurting. Maybe I don't need them but I really want some. I'm wearing basketball shoes I've had for 4 years and they're still great but I really want some running shoes because I really don't want to get injured and have to stop running again. I know running 5 or 10 miles a week is weak but it's the only time I feel "good" during the week. Does anyone know any good running shoes for less than $50? I check a lot of websites I found mentione on this subreddit that list shoes on sale but there's so many. I know I should go to a store and get fitted by someone there (I read about this on this subreddit too) but if anyone has any suggestions for inexpensive good shoes I would be really grateful.

My goal is to be able to run a 5k in less than 25minutes by the summer and I think (hope) I can do it.

Just realized I wrote a lot but oh well. Running feels good. I'm glad I'm able to do it again. This seems like a cool subreddit too I've just been going through it for the last few weeks.
