All day these rainstorms would roll off the glacier cap and down into the valley where I was hiking, sometimes even bringing hail and snow at the higher elevations. But come sunset, the rainstorm spared me for a while and instead hit downriver, putting the storm perfectly in line with beams of light shooting through a break in the clouds. It was a magical moment, a sun shower being lit up like it was raining gold. Soon after another storm managed to sneak up on me from behind and obscure the view, but I’ll always remember the moment.
