Sunshine List for Ontario (and York University)

You guys are acting as if being on the sunshine list is a bad thing. But remember, Imagine you are working and get to the top of your profession after 20 years full time on the job, which most of these people have, it only makes sense you make it to the sunshine list. If you aren’t. Maybe it’s time to look for a new job as it either means you just aren’t qualified enough, or don’t have a good enough reputation to be able to charge more, or the field you are in isn’t considered in demand and thus not lucrative. And while yes these people make over a hundred thousand, in Ontario they lose 40-45 percent to income tax. Assuming we go with the lower figure, means if you are making 100,000 you are only bringing home 60 thousand, which is not technically enough to afford a home to live in Toronto. It will take you 10 years at the moment with that salary to buy a small detached home in Toronto. Now imagine if you have medical expenses or kids to take care of and this money disappears really fast. So before judging people on salary, maybe reconsider what you are doing in your life.
