Sup trolls. I got asked to join a team of writers for a new sci-fi/horror web series in an effort to "get a female perspective" since all the writers are currently males. Got any advice, trolls? What character tropes in sci-fi/horror films that you enjoy/dislike?

It's off topic, but your post gave me a thought that I was going to use it to write my own story, however, I realized that I'd probably not do it justice. So here it is:

[Background] A story where there is a galaxy-wide renowned bounty hunter (or whatever) man with a woman sidekick. However, the twist is that he's the front and doesn't know it. She's the true brains and brawn hiding in his famous shadow. She takes great pains to hide all of her work from him (and everyone else) and, unfortunately, he's gotten truly full of himself and his "accomplishments."

[Plot] They captured their greatest foe/catch because their foe thought the man was the hero and took the woman captive. He couldn't have been more wrong. She escapes and wreaks havoc until the man gets there to "save the day" at which point she already has the foe captured. However, this foe now knows that she's the real deal while the guy is the phony and manages to escape after being turned over to the authorities.

The foe then gathers allies to take the heroes down (without telling them that their anger is misplaced on the man) and orchestrates a plan to have her save the man only to be captured herself while he escapes. The man now has to fend for himself and suddenly realizes that without her he's kinda boned and that she's been doing all the real work.

Still, he manages to bumble into the final climatic scene where she's about to be killed and his entrance manages to distract the main foe long enough for her to escape and save them both.

Now he realizes all the work she's been doing and they're more of a partnership, having him be in the limelight while she works in the shadows.

It's kinda like Without a Clue (1998), but in spaaaaace!
