Could it be the movie you had a really easy chance to make a classic out of you botched on almost all levels outside of look and nostalgia? Could it be that tropes whether you think they are progressive ones or not are boring and obnoxious?

Now I have to explain to my kid after we see it that no not all men are idiots or alphas and hope it doesn't add to my little daughter's already monstrous 'tude. Vs. just seeing some relatively safe videogame remade as a 90 min cartoon.
