Super mario maker predicted 2 years ago

My actual Comment:

They won't, and not because of penises but rather because they couldn't sell you DLC level packs when you can make your own.

Remember context is everything. My statement was regarding a full fledged true Mario edit without limited assets. And you have to remember that not long before Nintendo had already released over priced level packs for the 3DS Super Mario 2.

I also stated:

You do know that every Super Mario 2 DLC pack so far on the 3DS has been nothing but text scripts that manipulate existing assets on the cartridge or original download. Nothing new has been released other than different title and enemy placements.

Nintendo will not give us the ability to make our own levels for one reason, they like money. And it's not like they didn't have the technology to do it until the Wii U. This idea has been with Nintendo since the NES (although very limited) but nothing would have stopped them from including such an editor with Super Mario World. If Mario Paint can save a full screen 16 color images it's not too far of a stretch to save a tile based side scrolling level. Why teach a man to fish when you can sell him fish until he dies?

Well it turns out they only gave us the most basic of assets to work with. With the current tile set you can't do the majority of the experiences found in Mario 3 so it's perfectly set up to milk the fans to eternity with DLC assets packs. There are already plans for new mushroom costume DLC, which I'm hoping is free as they don't really add much value to the stages. What we really want is access to the full line of powerups and items found in each title.

/u/boopaboopa , you need to understand that most of these guesses are made with the consideration of the gaming climate at the time. Nintendo seemed totally against anything where the user could create there own content and they also failed at recognizing the power of a game like Minecraft. Notch even mentioned in an interview at the time that Nintendo had made no attempts to contact him about a port. And in all honesty the possibility of Nintendo releasing another 2D Mario game looked very likely as those titles were bringing in much more money than the rest.

Where did you weigh in on the discussion back then? Did you have any point of view or opinion at all on the subject? No? Then all I can offer you is this.

Good day.

TLDR; Context is everything, having an opinion is better than not, they found a way to milk this with DLC anyway.
