The superb low kicks and knees of Jose Aldo

DC and Machida's movement would be completely different if they were smol and felt like they were moving in half gravity, just as Mighty Mouse and Cruz's movement would be completely different if they were blown up to 205.

I honestly don't get this, big guys might not be able to scramble like cut snakes as flyweights do, but the fundamentals of striking and grappling don't change with weight class. Heavyweights are just as capable as lightweights at learning sound footwork as you can see in boxing and kickboxing, they simply do it slower. Being a heavy dude is no excuse for DC being a grindy pressure-wrestler who can't cut the cage to save his life or squaring his stance with every single step forward he takes. He doesn't need to move like MM or Cruz, but it doesn't mean that his feet aren't an absolute disaster and that he wouldn't be a far better fighter than he already is if he did have good footwork.

And for the record, I think Machida's footwork is actually quite good and would have been fine on a smaller fighter (the holes in the rest of his game would likely sink him, but that's a different conversation), and it was significantly better than most of his counterparts in LHW and MW.
