Superiors unhappy that I’m on sick leave. I found out today that I have mild hypertension, please help.

Hi, let's get you the information that you need first.

  1. Medical leave is a RIGHT not an entitlement that is covered by the Employment Act set by MOM. Regardless of your boss demands, as long as you've informed your superior in writing you've done your due diligence as an employee and have no obligations to return to work.

  2. You may want to inform HR on this incident but while doing so please keep in mind that HR serves the interest of the company, not the employee. They are not your friend so don't include any unnecessary details. Ask them if you are required to return to office despite your MC reminding them of the employment act.

  3. You are absolutely right to ignore and take a rest as you have a medical condition. Please learn to listen to your body as any conditions can aggravate over your lifetime
