Supply Chain Rumor Claims Apple will switch to USB Type-C in its Series of 2019 iPhones

eh they like to phase changes

the way it was explained to me is that apple wanted usb c a while ago but the industry was slow, so they pushed ahead w lightning for their phones , then went w thunderbolt for desktops and laptops, as usbc took hold, they were able to nix thunderbolt (my mbp has four usb c instead of two usb a and two thunderbolt like my previous mpb, lightning was kept on iphones cause usbc wasnt quite ready yet, plus they probably wanted to run down their surplus of parts... (like how the se is made of excess 5 cases)

since lightning costs more due to licensing fees for the name ( they pay harley ) it only makes sense that with no real advantage over usbc that its next to ax , streamlining everything to one form factor , remember they made the air to test the viabilty of no ports at all... didnt catch on so fast, security peoples need external hardrives and physical disconnects and wifi is by no means secure at the mil/state level ... so to prevent panic and consumer blowback the slow roll changes .

Jumping to soon may cause too many people to jump ship, jumping to late and they miss the boat... wwdc is a straw poll of sorts and they release based off analysis of crowd reaction vs viabilty vs profitabilty...
