Do you support school choice / charter schools?

I feel like charter schools are a great option and school choice is better, but only if it was done in an economically sound way, like having the tax structure so that whichever school you choose is what you pay for. So if it’s home school then you get to keep that amount in taxes to pay for school supplies and tutoring etc. If it’s a charter school then it goes there. Same for magnet schools and Montessori etc. On size fits all public school funding doesn’t work well from any perspective. Economically the schools with the highest funding often have the lowest test scores and some of the lower graduation rates and giving failing schools more money only enforces their failing policies. Socially, putting every school in one box for tests and class structure is bound to fail since different communities have different needs and sometimes even statewide requirements are so broad that some students are bound to fail and teachers just end up teaching how to pass those state tests and not being able to focus on students’ actual learning.
