Suppression of presbyopia progression with pirenoxine eye drops: experiments on rats and non-blinded, randomized clinical trial of efficacy

Moderators: satisfies within-6-months requirement (26 June 2017 publication)

Summary: this trial suggests that Pirenoxine (which is a drug with potential applicability for cataract reversal) may also help stave off Presbyopia (the loss of accomodation which occurs in patient's 50s).

Since Presbyopia (loss of accomodation) is supposedly related to the stiffening of the lens (and not presumably the muscles that control lens shape and thus focus) - that suggests that "anti-cataract" drugs could have efficacy for Presbyopia as well.

Pirenoxine (Catalin) is controversial because it is claimed by some to have cataract-reversal properties, while others (especially in the U.S. medical community) do not find sufficience evidence of it's efficacy (although they do not say it is dangerous either).
