A surprising reaction to not getting free furniture...

When I run into a word I'm either not familiar with or I'm not absolutely certain the definition of, I like looking up the etymological root and historical usage of it, it's just fun for me. Even if it is archaic or inelegent in its overembellishment, I sometimes find myself using those words, usually because they come to mind sooner than their more commonly used synonyms, though it occurs more often in text than in speech. I've been doing this since elementary school, too, and I am often mocked by my friends (lightheartedly) when they catch me doing it. I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with enjoying the use of vocabulary that's not actually particularly useful, but it does lend a hand to miscommunication and general inefficiency.
