Survivors of attempted murder: what's your story?

I was like, 6, sister was 2, babysitter was in her teens (don't remember if she had started driving at this point, but she didn't have a car for this story anyways).

Basically, this other girl was mad at my babysitter for hitting on her boyfriend (except my babysitter didn't like the dude, they were just friends, and the other girl was dating him either; middle school drama or some shit).

So other girl got her friend, and someone that lived down the street from me, and they knew my babysitter was working one night, and came to my house to confront her. They argued at the door, ending in my babysitter slamming it. Babysitter and I ran down the hall to my sister's room (front door and sister's door were on the same wall, if sister's room had a window on the side, you could see the front porch out her window), went in, locked the door.

Big slam, aware front door is open, babysitter calling 911. Hear some nasty fighting at the door knob to my sister's room. Eventually, the girls give up, and we see them walk down my driveway and down the street towards the neighbor's house while still on the phone with police. Parents arrived home while police were still there. Front door had been kicked in, sister's bedroom doorknob was so beaten up it's a goddamn miracle they didn't just finish tearing it off and come in. Sister slept through the whole thing.

I got to see a therapist after that because my parents were worried I might have been traumatized. I only really remember it being really boring. I missed out on the court stuff, that entire group got a couple years, more for the one with the knife that actually attempted to kill someone.

Scariest part? I actually don't know if I'm a survivor of attempted murder, or just a very close proximity witness. No idea what that group would have done to me if they'd actually accomplished their original goal.
