Bunch of places that can be feasibly described as communist that reject Soviet-style bureaucratic state tyranny. Plus, you know, you act like Stalin taking control is an inevitability - by that logic, in republics it's a historical certainty that a Robespierre will take charge and start guillotining everyone.
"Human nature" is not a feasible argument. If humans can adapt from monarchism and feudalism towards democratic republics, they can adapt to other shifting economic paradigms. Human beings' #1 attribute is that they are extremely flexible, social beings. Using that to imply that we're doomed to a Hobbesian "state of nature" - which, by the way, has never occurred as a natural state of being - is intellectually bankrupt nonsense.
