There exists certain disadvantages though. Starting with the fact that one could argue that the people elected to the federal counsil aren't always the best equipped ones. Parties might be interested in having a rather "weak" federal counsil of an opposing party to prevent drastic changes in certain fields. Sure one could argue that also means having fewer polarizing or extreme politicans in government.
In the contact with foreign powers and international organisations one downside that exists is the ever changing president. Personal relationships are still important in forming international alliances and might open up doors that wouldn't otherwise exist. With the president changing every year it's more difficult to build such relationships.
Feder councillors are ministers. With only seven ministers Switzerland has a tiny government structure. That shifts power from political personnel towards the directors of the federal offices. This aspect of technocracy has positive and negative sides. But most Swiss aren't really aware of it.
I'm not against the political system. I just want to share a few points to show that every system has downsides. You might still prefer one over another.
