Sydney COVID-19 lockdown set to be extended by a week

It’s not approach, it’s luck. NSW got lucky most of the last 12 months, and Victoria got unlucky. Now it’s the other way around. Victoria haven’t defeated the delta variant through some masterful government execution, it just avoided an outbreak. 6 cases could pop up in Melbourne tomorrow, then 15 the day after that, and Melbourne would be straight back in lockdown. I think it’s crazy to think that Victoria has somehow “outperformed” any state with the delta variant. Contract tracing is no better here than it is in Sydney and there’s still no vaccinations. We are one unlucky fleeting transmission away from being in lockdown #5, so don’t start getting smug about what incredible covid-managers the Victorian government are.
